WPThemeCity FAQ
Frequently asked questions about WPThemeCity. Click the question to see the answer.
Q: Which versions of Artisteer are supported?
A: We support Artisteer versions 4.1* and 4.2.
* Themes exported with 4.1 have a limitation for conditional widget display when using the responsive controls. The Phone selector only works for portrait mode, landscape on smaller devices is grouped in with the Tablet selector.
Q: How do you install WPThemeCity?
A: After downloading and unzipping simply double-click the .artp Artisteer plugin file. Alternately this file can be dragged and dropped into an open Artisteer window.
Q: How do you uninstall WPThemeCity?
A: With Artisteer running, select Marketplace in the upper right-hand corner. Select Installed from the list of options on the left. Select the version of WPThemeCity you’d like to uninstall. Click the Remove button.
Q: How do you use the Style Switcher option?
A: After exporting with the Full Theme option (in the Export Type panel in export options), you can export multiple styles for that theme. After making changes to the Artisteer project (only CSS based changes will work here), export the style with the Style Switcher option selected as the Export Type. Save this folder into the styles folder of the full theme. The name of the folder exported via the Style Switcher option will be the selection name in the style switcher options under Appearance -> Customize in the WordPress dashboard. Spaces can be used in this folder name, but spaces often cause issues so it’s recommended to use underscores (_) instead; these will be converted to spaces in the style switcher selection name in the WordPress dashboard settings. Users of your themes will then have the ability to select different styles/looks under Appearance -> Customize in the WordPress dashboard.
Q: How do you use the Software Licensing option?
A: The software license option is based on the Software Licensing Add-On for the Easy Digital Downloads online store WordPress plugin. This is designed for running a theme store and you must sell your themes using EDD for this option to function. To enable this option check Easy Digital Downloads Software Licensing Support in the Extras panel in export options. Then fill out the form on the Licensing panel in the export options. Store URL will be the url to your online theme store. You can optionally override the theme name, version and author from the Description panel if needed. Theme name should match the product name (title) in your EDD store exactly. Add the new theme export to your product in EDD and fill out the updated information in the License panel for your product in EDD in your WordPress dashboard (more information on this can be found on the EDD Software License documentation page). Users of your theme with a valid license will now be notified automatically of the available update just as any theme from the WordPress theme repository. A license input page is available to your theme’s users under Appearance -> Theme License in their WordPress dashboard.
